I just came across a really useful resource published by Punchcut, a design toolset from managing screen resolutions: Pixel Proliferation.

The device landscape for which we design is always changing and the device types are always proliferating. And with the increasing demand for unique mid-screen devices, it is becoming an even more arduous task to keep things straight.

The UI projects range from HVGA mobile devices with touchscreens to high-definition televisions with 5-way input and Punchcut is offering the toolset to download here. (via Vivek)

(via John Nack) - Good news: the new Flash Player 10.2 (download the beta) offers a new, video-playback-optimized mode called Stage Video which uses the GPU acceleration added earlier this year.

Stage Video requires Flash developers to update the code in video players, so simply updating to the new player won’t automatically improve CPU usage on all sites, but YouTube has already updates its player & others will follow. If you’re a Flash developer and want to start experimenting, check out this tutorial from Lee Brimelow.

Take a look at the video demo here.

Serge Jespers just published Package Assistant Pro for Mac/Windows. Package Assistant Pro is an easy-to-use tool that help you with package native installers for AIR 2 and APK files for AIR on Android and eliminates the need to use the command line.

A few months ago I released an early version of my Package Assistant application. The application made it easier to compile native installers for AIR 2. While it was a lot easier to use compared to using the command line the application wasn’t very user friendly. A few weeks ago I started working on a brand new version and I think you will like it!

(via Vivek) - Forum Nokia released a simple and useful AIR app to help mobile developers and designers to easily build mobile prototypes running on real devices: Flowella! With this tool you can have an interactive prototype without writing a single line of code, watch the video below:

Flowella is an easy to use tool that enables designers and developers to create design prototypes — without writing a line of code. Prototypes are built using images of screen mock-ups and defining links between the screens. This information is then used to create an Adobe Flash Lite 3.0 application or Web Runtime (WRT) widget. These applications can then be run on one of over seventy Nokia devices or in a simulator supplied with Flowella, enabling the application interaction to be assessed.
